2008– Q4 Report

October through December

 

During Q4 of 2008, a total amount of $1,937.69 was spent on grant activities. Of this approximately $3,100 was matched with in-kind hours contributed by the board members.

 

1)      Meetings Held:

a.      LATAG held an Executive Board meeting on October 3rd, 2008 (no quorum).

b.      LATAG held an Executive Board meeting on October 7th, 2008.

c.      LATAG held a Regular Board meeting on October 7th, 2008.

d.      LATAG held an Executive Board meeting on November 5th, 2008.

e.      LATAG held a Regular Board meeting on November 11th, 2008.

f.       LATAG held an Executive Board meeting on November 20th, 2008 (no quorum).

g.      LATAG held a Regular Board meeting on December 9th, 2008 (no quorum).

h.      LATAG held an Executive Board meeting on December 12th, 2008 (no quorum).

 

2)      Fourth Quarter Report – no technical advisor was present for reports

a.      October: It was recommended to pursue Terry Spear for the new Technical Advisor. A preliminary contract is to be presented to Terry.

LATAG produces a newsletter with updates on the Libby Superfund cleanup progress and the latest developments.

The newsletter is produced four times a year or following technical advisors reports and/or significant site milestones.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Timeline: Quarterly.

The community learns about the site cleanup, progress, and decisions.  Quarterly distribution of the newsletter will be reported.

 

In addition comments submitted to LATAG will be tallied and reported.

 

The 4th quarter Newsletter is not on schedule as we are seeking a new Technical Advisor.

The LATAG website (www.LATAG.org) has in depth information and documentation related to the Libby Superfund Site.

The website will be updated on a monthly basis or more frequently as required to provide the most updated information possible.  The website will be available for use for those in Lincoln County and for any person concerned about Libby Amphibole and associated issues.

 

 

 

 

 

Timeline: Monthly Maintenance and updates.

The LATAG website is continually updated with current information and will incorporate past records as time allows.

 

The community learns about the site cleanup procedures, activity, progress, decisions, and other important matters.

 

Once fully operational, statistics related to website usage will be reported.

 

Comments submitted through the LATAG website will be tallied and reported.

LATAG holds regular monthly meetings generally on the second Tuesday of the month.  These meetings are open to the public.  Meetings are advertised in the local newspapers.  In addition there are typically 3-4 special meetings a year.

LATAG typically has an average of 20 participants at their regular monthly meetings.

 

Attendance at public meetings will be reported as well as the number of new and returning members and how they learned about the activities of LATAG.

The community learns about the site cleanup procedures, activity, progress, decisions, and other important matters.

 

The meetings provide the community with a forum for comments.

The LATAG Board is made up of volunteers that routinely spend their time on LATAG duties.

LATAG Board Members submit in-kind sheets monthly in accordance with grant requirements.

This furthers the LATAG goal in that the community learns about the site cleanup procedures, activity, progress, decisions, and other important matters.

The LATAG Executive Board holds monthly meetings to conduct personnel (contractual) business for the LATAG.

 

Additionally various Committees hold meetings as needed to further support the LATAG goals.

The LATAG Executive Board has an average of 3-4 participants at their monthly meetings.

 

Committee participation varies as needed.

 

Timeline: Monthly for 5 years.

This furthers the LATAG goal in that the community learns about the site cleanup procedures, activity, progress, decisions, and other important matters.

The Technical Advisor (TA) reviews toxicological documents, sampling results, sampling designs, and all other site related documents as requested by LATAG.  Then provides LATAG with analytical reports to help LATAG evaluate the results, which are then presented to the public.

The public is presented with this information at meetings, through newsletters, and through the media.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Timeline: Monthly and quarterly.

The review of reports and documents is not on schedule as we are seeking a new Technical Advisor.

 

LATAG has selected a candidate for Technical Advisor and is currently dealing with the contract and approval processes.  It is anticipated that LATAG will have completed this process by late January 2009, and anticipates that LATAG’s Technical Advisor will be attending his first meeting in February 2009.

The LATAG publishes a press release in the three local newspapers.  The articles include updates on the Libby Superfund cleanup progress, site developments, decisions affecting the site, and other important matters.

Articles are published as needed.
